Purpose and Impact
The Directors act as strategic leaders for the school and will conduct the school in a way which promotes high standards of educational achievement, attainment, personal development, health & safety, and staff and pupil wellbeing.
Roles and Responsibilities
Those responsible for governance at Hampstead Hill School are the Founding Principal, Andrea Taylor and the Director & Chair, Lewis Taylor.
The core functions of the governing board are as follows:
- To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
- To hold senior members of staff accountable for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff.
- To oversee financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
The Directors have a further responsibility to:
- Ensure the school complies with relevant government guidance and legislation and to oversee the production and implementation of policies.
- Ensure safer recruitment practices are applied, the single central record is monitored, and staff are given adequate training, policies, and standards of conduct.
- Ensure that the school meets its statutory duties with regard to safeguarding and protecting pupils and that processes are in place to enable staff to understand the nature of safeguarding children in education and their role and responsibilities in doing so.
- Monitor the schools progress towards meeting developmental targets.
- Uphold responsibility for health and safety matters in the school, however they will delegate day-to-day responsibility to the Headteacher.
Implementation
The Directors and the Headteacher regularly attend meetings to discuss updates relating to the leadership and management of the school such as:
- Attendance
- Safeguarding
- Pupil and staffing updates
- Quality of teaching and learning
- Early years reports
- Health and safety
- Site and premises
- Bursar’s financial report
- Policies and compliance
Members of the senior leadership team and senior management team are responsible for creating reports related to their roles which will be presented at the Directors meetings for feedback.
