Notes

We are conscious that children may have a variety of physical activities on different days during each week including yoga, conservation lessons and clubs and that it is very important that they feel comfortable. To that end we will be as flexible as possible about uniform. If you would like your child to wear their PE uniform on some days, please feel free to do so. Please note, we do still expect regulation/formal uniform to be worn on days in which children do not participate in additional physical activities. Children should always wear their PE uniform on PE days.

Please label all items of clothing and belongings clearly with children’s full names.

Lunches

Hampstead Hill School gained ‘National Healthy School Status’ several years ago. All our lunches and snacks are prepared and/or cooked on site and wherever possible we use fresh, locally sourced produce. Any frozen and packaged foods contain ‘no’ added salt and/or sugar and are preservative and additive free.

ALL fresh meat, fruit and vegetable produce is delivered daily and all ‘meat alternative’ products are Soya based protein and egg free.

Our menu was designed with the help of a well-respected nutritionist and is available for download below.

After School Clubs

Hampstead Hill School offers a variety of after school activities  for children from Pre-Reception Year upwards. The children are taught by professionals, charges are competitive,  and where relevant  there are  open classes for Parents at the end of each school year. These activities are very popular and frequently have long waiting lists.

Club fees will be added to your termly fees invoice. Half a term’s notice must please be given if you wish your child to stop a particular activity.

Autumn Term Clubs will commence from Monday 9th September. Current clubs include Drama, Gymnastics, Fencing, STEM (Years 1, 2 and 3 only), Coding (Years 1, 2 and 3 only) and Chess (Reception & Years 1, 2 and 3 only).

Obviously numbers have to be restricted appropriately so once the class list is filled applications will be placed on a waiting list and parents contacted if a space becomes available.

If you would like more information about after-school activities please call the School Administration desk.

Travelling To School

Hampstead Hill School has a Green Travel Plan in place and it is our policy to actively encourage walking/use of public transport and discourage use of cars whenever possible. These methods of transport to and from school benefit the children’s physical health, support the moves to improve air pollution and help the local environment. We can accommodate younger pupil’s pushchairs as well as scooters and bicycles. We also actively encourage car-pooling where cars have to be used.

Drive safely/slowly around our school – most roads in London Borough of Camden have a 20 miles per hour speed limit. We encourage parents/guardians to travel to our school using sustainable modes of transport where possible, however we appreciate that some families need to drive. We are urging parents who have to drive their children to school to ensure they drive below 20mph to help increase compliance with the speed limit. This helps everyone to make the streets safer and more pleasant to travel around, and reduces the risk of collisions.

Hampstead Hill School has shown its commitment to more sustainable school journeys by collaborating for many years now with a local charity called Green School Runs (www.greenschoolruns.org). Green School Runs is a group of local parents concerned with poor air quality caused by traffic congestion, especially during the school run. Together with local schools and authorities, Green School Runs has been working to raise awareness of the causes and consequences of air pollution – especially on children – and to promote alternatives to driving for the school run. If you are interested to learn more about what you could do to make your school run more healthy and sustainable please visit the Green School Run website (www.greenschoolruns.org), where you can also browse this handy guide (https://www.greenschoolruns.org/_files/ugd/3cf5ce_4115cba7daa94780993f1e9d64ac1df3.pdf) on how to reach your school in NW3 without driving up to the school gate.

Pre-Preparatory and Preparatory Holiday Provision

Throughout the half term and holiday periods we offer a full time Holiday Scheme which is run by Active Day Camps for Hampstead Hill pupils only. This is based in St. Stephen’s and offers a wide variety of varied activities throughout the year. Information is sent to parents well ahead of every holiday period.
